Connecting Engineering and Biology in the Pursuit of Growing Plants on the Moon

This site is to support teachers who are interested in lessons and activities around growing plants with integration of engineering skills. These materials can be used to support teams interested in participating in Plant the Moon and Plant the Moon, Jr. The videos below are based on workshops in 2025-2026. Faculty contributors to this work include Dr. Jennifer Gleason from Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Dr. Sara Wilson from Mechanical Engineering. Student contributors include Clara Banks, KU Mechanical Engineering and Mateo Nieto, West Middle School. In addition to the whole workshop video, each exercise with the Arduino and sensor kit is in an individual video.
